HSTT Fall Speaker Series has a brand new lineup!
The purpose of the adult speaker series is to provide our high school and adult community members (anyone 16 yrs. or older) with educational talks and presentations on animal welfare topics. The series is free; however, there is a suggested $10 donation if possible (donation goes to HSTT).
September 24, 2025, from 5:30-7 pm – The Power of Pulling Sports For Dogs (p.s. It’s not just for Huskies)
Learn about (literally) harnessing your dog’s natural running and pulling instincts in a way that is safe and fun for you and your dog. Lead Dog Athletics owners and instructors, Jen and Michael Raffaeli, will share insights into why many active dogs and working breeds find fulfillment in having a job. Find out how dog-powered sports like canicross, bikejoring, or skijoring can give your dog the mental and physical challenge they crave.
October 15, 2025 from 5:30-7 pm – Pilates for Pups of All Ages- Why Dogs Need Workouts
Ever thought about your dog’s core strength? We have! Learn from Jen Raffaeli, Certified Canine Fitness Trainer, and her husband, Michael, how and why incorporating targeted fitness exercises can greatly benefit your dog. Whether you have a goofy puppy, an active athlete, or a senior dog, there are simple workouts that you can build into your dog’s routine to help maximize their balance, body awareness, strength, and stamina. Demonstrations with one of the shelter dogs will show you some easy and effective techniques you can use with your dog.
November 20th, 2025 from 5-6:30 pm – Pet First Aid and CPR
Learn from Veterinarian, Greg Frankfurter, how to stay calm and keep your pets safe when things go wrong! Join us for an interactive presentation and discussion on pet emergency preparedness. We’ll cover practical prevention strategies, what information and supplies to keep on hand, and how to recognize common emergency situations. You’ll also learn basic first aid techniques for both home and outdoor settings, including CPR for pets.
