The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe saves so many lives, thanks in part to our foster program. The foster program is vital and life-saving, making an enormous difference for the animals in our care. Foster families provide a loving home for HSTT pets who need a little extra TLC while awaiting adoption. You can choose to foster dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens…whatever best fits into your lifestyle. We’ll provide all the support and supplies that you’ll need.

If you are interested in becoming a foster volunteer, you will first need to attend our general volunteer orientation. This orientation covers the organization’s goals and policies and explains volunteer opportunities. You must complete the volunteer orientation before you can become foster-trained. After orientation, foster volunteers will complete an online foster training and foster application.
