Become a Foster Family

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe is able to save so many lives thanks, in part, to our foster program. The foster program is a vital, life-saving program that makes an enormous difference for the animals in our care. Foster families provide a loving environment in their home for HSTT pets who need a little extra TLC while awaiting adoption. You can choose to foster dogs, cats, puppies and kittens…whatever best fits into your lifestyle. We’ll provide all the support and supplies that you’ll need.

If you are interested in becoming a foster volunteer, you will first need to attend our general volunteer orientation. This orientation covers the goals and policies of the organization, as well as explaining volunteer opportunities. You are required to go through the volunteer orientation before being able to become foster trained. Once orientation is complete, foster volunteers will then complete a online foster training and foster application. Please contact our foster team for more information at, foster@hstt.org. To get started, please complete the online general volunteer application prior to training.

Learn more about our foster program via our Foster Pet Guidelines and Foster Care Agreement and fill out our Foster Application.
