Wendy settled in Truckee in 1995 having travelled from the UK in 1990. Her mission was to visit American friends, she had previously met on her travels to New Zealand and Australia and experience new adventures and better weather! A boyfriend from Berkeley led her to California where she discovered life as a raft guide and eventually the Sierra Nevada and the once sleepy little town of Truckee. Wendy grew up in a rural village in England, north of London, the youngest of three girls. Her parents adopted a black lab mix shortly after she was born and later the house started to fill with guinea pigs, goldfish, her first kitten, and three horses, and her love for animals and caring for them became part of everyday life.

Here in Truckee her first dog, Captain was an 8-week-old black lab mix who was found at a shanty mobile home park in Reno and then about 6 yrs later deciding he would like a friend she found Rosy on a two-month trip down to Baja. Rosy had been abandoned on a remote beach. Her current dog, Ruby, she adopted from HSTT on Halloween of 2019 and you will sometimes see Ruby behind the scenes at the Thrifty Tails Boutique where she loves to get as many belly rubs in a day as possible!

Wendy joined the HSTT team at Thrifty Tails Boutique in May of 2024 and has not looked back since!
