Rachel Guffin
Animal Caretaker
Rachel has called Truckee home for the past four years, though she grew up in the Tahoe area and has always felt connected to the community. A licensed veterinary technician, she spent several years working at a local clinic before joining the HSTT team.
At HSTT, Rachel loves being part of a compassionate group dedicated to preparing pets for their forever homes. Her passion lies in helping animals thrive, supporting the human–animal bond, and ensuring each pet has the best chance at a happy life. She finds it deeply rewarding to enrich the lives of shelter animals while they await adoption.
Beyond the shelter, Rachel has been a proud member of the North Valley Animal Disaster Group for more than a decade. Through this work, she has been able to combine her animal care expertise with emergency response training to support both pets and people in times of crisis.
In her downtime, she loves writing, knitting, snowshoeing, hiking, exploring the Tahoe area, and relaxing by the river. She likes a good craft beer and being able to relax with friends as well as spend time with family.
