Liz Carranza
Community Resource Coordinator
Liz is a Bay Area native who was ready for a change and set out to start a new chapter. She holds a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Labor Studies. Before entering animal welfare, she freelanced for various outlets, worked in social media marketing, and published poetry books. While she enjoyed creative work, she felt called to do something more fulfilling and community-focused.
That calling led her to the San Francisco SPCA, where she discovered a deep sense of purpose and recognized the growing need for bilingual support in animal welfare. There, she found her passion for helping both pets and their people, especially within Spanish-speaking communities.
After moving to the Truckee area, Liz explored different career paths, but animal welfare continued to call her back. She eventually found the perfect fit at the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, where she combines her creativity and passion for helping animals to support the North Lake Tahoe region and surrounding communities.
After saying goodbye to her soul dog, Milkshake, Liz felt even more motivated to continue her work in animal welfare and help as many community members as possible through HSTT’s outreach programs.
Outside of work, Liz enjoys writing, reading, painting, watching reruns of RuPaul’s Drag Race, hiking, yoga, and spending time with her two dogs, Kenai and Mojito, and her cat, Kiki. She is also a die-hard Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
