Dr. Heather Simon

Veterinarian

Dr. Heather Simon is originally from Los Angeles, but left the warm and sunshine to attend the University of Michigan for her undergraduate studies. After earning a BA in Economics, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she pursued a graduate degree in Law. Five years into her legal career in Madison, her beloved dog, Moby, developed cancer and required long-term treatments by the oncology specialist. This experience sparked her interest in veterinary medicine and, together with her life-long love for animals, inspired her to follow her heart.

Dr. Simon graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She then returned to California to complete a small animal Internship at Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic in Sacramento. Dr. Simon has been a general practitioner and shelter surgeon in the Truckee-Reno area since 2006.  She has volunteered on several World Vets trips to areas including Peru, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Thailand to conduct high-volume sterilization and vaccine clinics for the local animals. Dr. Simon’s interests include playing in the mountains with her partner, Jeff, and cuddling with her Thai pooch, Trevor.
