Amanda Lanz
Adoption & Customer Service Specialist
Originally from Mexico, Amanda developed a love for animals at an early age, often feeding and befriending stray dogs and cats. After moving to the United States in 1991, she pursued her passion for science, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California, Irvine in 2002.
Shortly after graduation, she moved to Maui, where she spent nearly a decade working as a water sports photographer. In 2012, she and her partner returned to California to start a family. While living in Monterey, she volunteered with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Animal Friends Rescue Project; experiences that deepened her commitment to animal welfare and community service.
After settling in Truckee in 2015, she devoted the next decade to being a stay-at-home mom and raising her daughter. As her child grew older, she felt a strong calling to turn her lifelong passion for animals into a career. That journey began with a position as a receptionist at a local veterinary clinic. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to learning, she advanced to a Veterinary Assistant role within just six months.
As a Vet Assistant, Adoption Specialist, and Animal Caretaker at HSTT, she enjoys caring for animals, supporting adopters through their journey, and helping create meaningful connections between pets and the people who love them.
When she’s not at HSTT, she enjoys spending time with her daughter Coral and partner Q, exploring the outdoors, traveling, paddle boarding, camping, boating and continuing her lifelong dedication to helping animals and the community she calls home.
