Recently retired, Michael Ryan, has practiced veterinary medicine in Truckee for the last 30 years. Michael and his wife Laura raised their son and daughter in Truckee and are now experiencing the role of grandparents with 3 of their 5 grandchildren still living in Truckee. Dr. Ryan has worked closely with the Truckee-Tahoe Humane Society since its inception, primarily by providing medical services and participating in the spay and neuter program. He is strongly committed to the success of the society. Retirement has given Michael the time needed to devote more attention to the operation of the Humane Society and he eagerly joined the board of directors in January of 2012. He is contributing his expertise in helping refine some of the shelter design and will participate more closely with the spay and neuter programs and consultations with medical issues associated with shelter medicine. He is a member of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians.
