I have had the pleasure of being a resident of Truckee for 34 years. I moved to Truckee in 1986 when I was offered a job at Tahoe Forest Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. Shortly after accepting the job, I met my husband Paco, who had owned and operated a bicycle and ski shop since 1979. I became a Nurse Practitioner in 1994 and enjoyed working with a private medical practice for 25 years.

Since moving to the area, I’ve fallen in love with the endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, such as skiing, biking, hiking, and trail running. When I met Paco, he had a St. Shepherd/Husky mix who had been a stray and loved nothing better than to run and hike with us. Since then, we have had a second stray Malamute/Husky mix who happened to walk onto our doorstep one day and never left.  We have since had various northern mix dogs over the years, all living long and healthy lives.

When I retired in 2021 I began to volunteer at the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe initially as a dog walker and then helping with fundraising events. I have grown to respect our local Humane Society for the compassion, dedication, enthusiasm, and love they show the shelter animals. I wanted to be a part of this amazing organization and give back to my community of 34 years.
