Community Pet Pantry

A service to help feed Truckee-Tahoe’s animals in need. EXPANDED SUPPORT DURING COVID-19

We are experiencing the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 beyond our shelter walls. Quarantines, loss of wages and lack of inventory/access to essential items are having huge impacts on our community members and their pets. With that in mind, we are operating an expanded version of our Pet Pantry, providing pet food and supplies to our community members. We've partnered with local social service groups to provide pop-up distribution locations for community members receiving food assistance through these programs. Additionally, we are delivering food to our homebound community members in the North Lake Tahoe area, through an easy sign-up process on our website here. For members of the community who are not enrolled in social service food assistance programs, are able to leave their homes for essential activities such as groceries, and are experiencing financial hardship, we welcome you to stop by one of our pickup locations.

We accept unopened, unexpired pet food donations at our shelter located at 10961 Stevens Lane in Truckee. During the COVID-19 pandemic, pet food donations can be dropped off seven days per week between the hours of 9AM and 5PM. Please do not bring donations by outside of those hours, to prevent attracting surrounding wildlife. Please do not drop off any other type of physical donation. If you would like to donate food in South Lake Tahoe, please contact our SLT Program manager at

OR - Purchase all-natural, healthy, holistic food with a 20% discount and have it delivered directly to HSTT's Pet Pantry through Nature's Select of Northern California. Visit to purchase both dry and canned food for dogs and cats. All pet food purchases will be used for our community's pets in need.

You can also donate to our Pet Pantry and make a donation to HSTT when you shop from our Amazon Wish List using Amazon Smile. Just remember to choose Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, Inc as your chosen nonprofit. Shop HSTT's Amazon Wish List here.

Monetary donations will be used to keep our lifesaving programs and services, and the staff that run them in place during the epidemic. Helping homeless pets find the loving homes they deserve is still our main priority and we will continue focusing on helping every pet that comes our way. Additionally, once HSTT shelter and clinic operations return to normal, demand for our services; low- and no-cost spay/neuter, free vaccinations and microchips services will be higher than ever before. Please support our programs and staff by donating here.

* To control the safety and quality of food and supplies distributed through our Pet Pantry program, we cannot accept opened, unmarked, expired or recalled pet food or cat litter. Click here for the AVMA's recall/alert watch and follow the recall watch on Twitter.
